New member of ECRD’s Advisory Council

Brussels, 16 May 2022 - European Centre for Representative Democracy is pleased to announce that Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, Member of the European Parliament, accepted to become a member of the foundation's Advisory Council.

Viola von Cramon is a German politician of Alliance '90/The Greens who has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019. She previously represented Lower Saxony in the Bundestag, the German federal parliament, from 2009 to 2013.

During her career, she was a vocal advocate for democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms within the European Union, candidate countries for EU membership, and EU's neighbourhood.

Since becoming a MEP she has been serving on the Committee on Foreign Affairs where she is the rapporteur for Kosovo and shaddow rapporteur for Serbia. She also joined the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in Democratic Processes in the European Union in 2020. In addition to her committee assignments, von Cramon has been first vice-chair of the Parliament's delegations to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and to EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee.

She is also a member of the Democracy Support and Election Coordination Group (DEG), which oversees the European Parliament's election observation missions. Since 2021, von Cramon has been part of the Parliament's delegation to the Conference on the Future of Europe.

ECRD's Advisory Council provides advice, expertise, and guidance to the foundation's Managing Board. The Foundation utilizes the knowledge, expertise, experience, and network of current and former parliamentarians, politicians, and influential persons in the field of representative democracy, to help achieving the objectives of the Foundation.
